ALANA is a group of archivists and librarians working in institutions or organisations that specialise in the field of art and design in and of Asia. We aim to support and strengthen the field of art and design librarianship and archives in the region through connecting people to foster mutual learning.
Currently ALANA is an informal collective working towards a formal status as an officially registered society. The first ALANA meeting was in January 2019. The meeting discussed the unique challenges facing information professionals within art institutions in the region, and how we might work together to better support each other.
We aim to meet quarterly, with a mix of virtual and in-person meetings, with member institutions taking turns hosting. These meetings will focus on specific themes and will encourage the exchange of expertise, experience and cross-institution collaboration. We intend to work towards a regular conference involving all our members and the wider sector.
By organising meetings and workshops on common points of interest and through the maintenance of this website, ALANA hopes to help our members build skills and share ideas.
ALANA is open to any organisation that manages and makes available information resources pertaining to the practice of art and design in Asia.
