Founded in 1986, Videotage is a leading Hong Kong-based non-profit organization specializing in the promotion, presentation, creation and preservation of new media art. It has now become an influential network, supporting creative use of media art to explore, investigate and connect with issues that are of significant social, cultural, and historical value. Organized numerous media arts events and programs while developing an extensive offline and online video art archive Videotage Media Art Collection (VMAC).
Since 2008, the VMAC has been a founding institution devoted to the preservation and expansion of a rich and diverse collection of video and media art in Hong Kong, with materials dating back to the latter parts of the 20th century.
DOCUMENTING CULTURAL AND SOCIAL HISTORY
The Collection comprises of moving images and publications relating to media art, current affairs and social movements past, providing documentary evidence and insight into the progression of art history and media over the past few decades.
